At 17, Ryan joined the Army National Guard and was deployed internationally twice while completing his undergraduate studies, which shaped his worldview and appreciation for diverse cultures and personalities.

Ryan is happily married with two teenage daughters and a family dog. In his free time, he enjoys backpacking in the wilderness, long runs, family movie nights, and being a goofball with his girls.
